KSrelief Sudan healthcare support was the focus of high-level discussions in Khartoum as a delegation from Saudi Arabia’s King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center met Sudanese Federal Minister of Health Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim to review humanitarian operations and pressing healthcare requirements across the country.
The KSrelief delegation was headed by Shalhoub Alshalhoub, director of public relations and media at the Saudi humanitarian organization. During the meeting, the two sides reviewed recent developments in relief activities across Sudan and discussed opportunities to strengthen cooperation in addressing urgent medical and humanitarian needs.
The talks come as Sudan continues to face significant pressure on healthcare services and humanitarian infrastructure, increasing the importance of international relief programs aimed at keeping hospitals and essential services operational.
KSrelief Sudan Healthcare Support Discussed in Khartoum
The meeting centered on three broad areas: developments in ongoing relief operations, urgent healthcare requirements and efforts to expand humanitarian assistance to communities in need.
Sudan’s health minister praised KSrelief’s humanitarian work and highlighted the organization’s contribution to strengthening the country’s healthcare sector and providing essential assistance to vulnerable populations.
The discussions also reflected continuing coordination between Saudi humanitarian authorities and Sudanese health officials as relief organizations work to address gaps in medical services and infrastructure.
KSrelief has been implementing a range of healthcare, water and humanitarian projects in Sudan as part of Saudi Arabia’s wider relief activities in the country.
Saudi Aid Supports Hospitals and Medical Services
Recent KSrelief initiatives demonstrate the scale of the organization’s involvement in Sudan’s healthcare system.
In late September, a KSrelief team inspected health and water projects in Khartoum State, including work at Omdurman Teaching Hospital, the Saudi Maternity Hospital and Al-Buluk Specialized Children’s Hospital.
At Omdurman Teaching Hospital, KSrelief supplied a 730 KVA generator after security conditions improved in Khartoum State. The center also provided equipment for emergency care, intensive care, radiology and surgical departments, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
The support helped the hospital expand its ability to conduct medical procedures, with SPA reporting that the facility was carrying out around 60 surgeries per day.
KSrelief also established an oxygen production station at the hospital capable of producing approximately 80 cylinders daily.
Such projects form an important part of KSrelief Sudan healthcare support, particularly as medical facilities work to restore or maintain services amid challenging operating conditions.
Water Infrastructure Also Receives KSrelief Assistance
Healthcare support has been accompanied by investment in water infrastructure.
During the same September visit, KSrelief representatives reviewed a water treatment rehabilitation project serving more than 1.5 million beneficiaries in Khartoum State.
According to SPA, two 1,000 KVA generators supplied through KSrelief helped increase the treatment facility’s productivity from around 25 percent to 70 percent. The project is intended to improve access to safe drinking water and reduce risks associated with waterborne diseases.
The combination of health and water projects illustrates how humanitarian assistance can address interconnected public-health challenges.
Wider Healthcare Projects Across Sudan
KSrelief has also supported longer-term medical infrastructure projects in the country.
In June 2026, the Saudi aid agency signed a joint implementation program aimed at rehabilitating six hospitals and establishing three oxygen-generation units across Sudan. The program was expected to directly benefit around three million people.
Earlier international cooperation has included support for Sudan’s dialysis services. A KSrelief agreement with the World Health Organization provided assistance designed to address shortages in kidney dialysis supplies, including support for dialysis sessions, equipment and medical staff at treatment centers.
These programs provide broader context for the latest Khartoum meeting and the continuing emphasis on KSrelief Sudan healthcare support.
Humanitarian Coordination Remains a Priority
The latest talks between KSrelief and Sudanese health officials underline continued efforts to coordinate humanitarian assistance while responding to immediate medical requirements.
Sudan’s health minister commended the Saudi relief agency’s role in supporting the healthcare sector and delivering aid to people requiring assistance across the country.
For KSrelief, the meeting forms part of Saudi Arabia’s continuing humanitarian engagement in Sudan through health, water and other relief initiatives.
With hospitals, medical services and basic infrastructure facing continuing pressures, cooperation between humanitarian organizations and Sudanese authorities remains central to efforts to maintain essential services and reach affected communities.
