RIYADH — A resident was injured and property was damaged in Saudi Arabia’s southwestern Asir region after debris from an intercepted ballistic missile fell in Ahad Rafidah governorate, according to Saudi authorities.

The missile was launched late Friday by Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi movement, the Saudi Press Agency reported, citing a spokesperson for the Kingdom’s Directorate of Civil Defense. An Asian resident was injured, while falling debris damaged a prayer room inside a building as well as several vehicles. Arab News

The incident came amid a series of missile and drone attacks targeting areas in southern Saudi Arabia.

Earlier on Friday, Saudi air defenses intercepted and destroyed three ballistic missiles launched toward Khamis Mushayt in the Asir region, according to Maj. Gen. Turki Al-Maliki, spokesperson for the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen. Four Houthi drones were also reported intercepted. Arab News

In a separate incident, Saudi Civil Defense said a Houthi projectile struck a school in Najran on Friday, causing material damage but no reported casualties. Arab News

The latest attacks form part of an escalation involving Houthi missile and drone operations against Saudi territory. Recent reporting has documented attacks against cities and infrastructure as fighting in Yemen intensifies. Arab News

Meanwhile, Yemen’s internationally recognized government forces said they carried out 71 precision strikes against Houthi positions, gatherings and reinforcements across parts of Taiz governorate. Brig. Gen. Majid Abdullah Al-Nuzaili, a Yemeni Armed Forces spokesperson, said the operations targeted several locations and damaged vehicles and other military assets. Those battlefield claims were statements by the Yemeni military and were not independently verified in the reporting reviewed by The Arabian Buzz. Arab News

The renewed hostilities have increased security concerns across the region, particularly around Saudi population centers, energy infrastructure and important Red Sea shipping routes.
