IndiGo Suspends Regional Routes as Iran Tensions Trigger Flight Schedule Changes

India’s largest airline, IndiGo, has announced adjustments to its international flight schedule amid rising tensions involving Iran, as concerns grow over potential military escalation in the region.

In a travel advisory issued on Tuesday, IndiGo said it was adopting a “cautious and proactive approach” in response to the evolving geopolitical situation and its potential impact on aviation safety and operations.

“As part of these measures, IndiGo flights to and from Tbilisi, Almaty, Baku and Tashkent have been canceled until February 11, 2026,” the airline said in a statement shared on X.

The affected routes connect India to parts of the Caucasus and Central Asia, regions whose airspace and flight corridors could be impacted by instability linked to Iran and neighboring areas. The airline added that passengers booked on the canceled services are being offered the option to rebook on alternative flights or receive a full refund.

IndiGo emphasized that the situation remains fluid and that flight operations are under continuous review. “As the situation continues to evolve, any further updates or changes will be communicated in a timely manner,” the airline said.

Airlines worldwide have become increasingly cautious about routing and scheduling as geopolitical risks rise, particularly in regions close to major conflict zones. Any disruption to airspace can have ripple effects across international flight networks, affecting travel plans and operational costs.

The move by IndiGo highlights how escalating tensions in the Middle East are beginning to impact global travel and aviation decisions, with carriers prioritizing passenger safety while navigating an increasingly uncertain operating environment.
