Saudi Crown Prince, Turkish President Erdogan Hold Strategic Talks in Riyadh
Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at Al Yamamah Palace in Riyadh on Tuesday, as the two countries moved to deepen cooperation across energy, defense, and regional security.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, the Crown Prince hosted an official reception ceremony for President Erdogan, followed by formal bilateral talks addressing shared priorities and regional developments.
During the visit, Saudi Arabia and Turkey signed a landmark agreement to develop and implement solar energy projects with a total capacity of 5 gigawatts in Turkey. The deal underscores growing collaboration in renewable energy as both countries pursue energy diversification and long-term sustainability goals.
President Erdogan told the Crown Prince that Ankara is determined to elevate bilateral relations to a higher level, particularly in renewable energy and the defense industry, according to a statement from the Turkish presidency. He also reaffirmed Turkey’s commitment to supporting stability in Syria, adding that Ankara would work closely with Riyadh to contribute to Syria’s reconstruction efforts.
The high-level meeting comes amid heightened regional tensions, especially between Iran and the United States. Turkey is expected to host talks involving US, Iranian, and regional officials aimed at easing tensions, following warnings from US President Donald Trump that Tehran could face consequences if it fails to reach an agreement on its nuclear program.
Bilateral economic ties were further reinforced through the Saudi–Turkish Investment Forum, held on the sidelines of the visit. The forum aims to strengthen trade and investment cooperation across multiple sectors and explore new investment opportunities within the Kingdom.
The visit highlights renewed momentum in Saudi–Turkish relations, reflecting shared interests in economic growth, regional stability, and strategic partnership at a time of shifting geopolitical dynamics.
