Saudi Arabia and Turkey Pledge Deeper Coordination to Uphold Regional and Global Security

RIYADH — Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan renewed their commitment to intensifying coordination aimed at safeguarding international peace and security, as the two leaders concluded high-level talks in Riyadh.
In a joint statement issued on Wednesday at the end of President Erdogan’s official visit, the leaders stressed the importance of regional cooperation in promoting stability, peace, and prosperity. The statement underscored a shared determination to deepen bilateral engagement and align positions on pressing regional and global challenges.
According to the statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency, the discussions covered developments across the Middle East, including the situations in Gaza, Syria, Sudan, and Yemen. The talks also addressed expanding Saudi–Turkish cooperation in key areas such as investment, economic development, energy, and defense.

Yemen
Yemen featured prominently in the discussions, with both sides reaffirming their support for the country’s legitimate government led by Rashad al-Alimi, head of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council.
The leaders emphasized the need to preserve Yemen’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, while rejecting any attempts to fragment the country or support internal actors that undermine its security and stability. Turkey expressed support for Saudi Arabia’s role in facilitating a political solution to the Yemeni crisis, including Riyadh’s efforts to host inclusive dialogue initiatives.
Palestine and Gaza
On Gaza, Saudi Arabia and Turkey welcomed their decision to join the Board of Peace, backing peace efforts led by US President Donald Trump. The two countries also welcomed the launch of the second phase of the comprehensive peace plan.
However, both leaders voiced deep concern over the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip and the continuation of Israeli military actions. They called on the international community to exert pressure on Israeli authorities to protect civilians, avoid targeting vital infrastructure, and comply with international and humanitarian law.
The visit highlighted renewed momentum in Saudi–Turkish relations, reflecting converging interests in regional stability, diplomatic coordination, and economic cooperation amid a complex and evolving geopolitical landscape.
